Deposit

  • A $200 per person deposit is required in order to secure a space on any given tour.
  • Due to limited airspace, confirmation for your reservation is given in the order deposits are received by our office. Therefore, it's best to reserve online with a credit card or book in person if you are in the Bay Area. Please call our office to set up an appointment.
  • Once your reservation has been processed, any changes pertaining to your tour must be submitted in writing to our office and subject to a penalty if applicable. 

Confirmation

  • Please allow up to ten (10) business days to receive a written confirmation by postal mail. If you selected the "Go Green" option, you will receive a written confirmation within five (5) business days.
  • Guaranteed departures require a minimum of ten (10) passengers, but at least six (6) of those passengers must be a full package tour out of SFO airport. On a case by case basis, we may confirm certain tours with less than ten (10) passengers.
  • Groups with less than ten (10) passengers will only have local guides. On a case by case basis, we may combine your group with another China Focus group (in certain cities) in order to qualify for a national guide.
  • Groups with ten (10) or more passengers will have a national guide in addition to the local guides. Except tour codes: GG and GT. These two (2) programs will only have local guides regardless the number of passengers in the group.
  • Local guides will change from city to city, while national guides stay with you from beginning to end to ensure larger groups run seamlessly.
  • If your tour is cancelled because the minimum requirement is not met, you will have the option to either transfer to a guaranteed departure or receive a full refund of the deposit paid to us.
  • Custom tours may be subject to a different requirement depending on the agreement with the tour organizer. Check with your custom tour organizer for details.

Final Payment

  • The balance of tour payment is due fifty (50) days prior to departure. Final payments not received by the due date are subject to cancellation and your deposit will be forfeited. In the event that a reservation is made less than fifty (50) days before the trip, full payment must be made immediately.
  • Payments received one to ten (1-10) days overdue will assess a $50 late fee per invoice, not per person.
  • Bounced checks will assess a $20 fee per check.
  • Installment payments will incur a $15 fee per payment.
  • Canadian checks (personal/bank drafts) will incur a $10 fee per check. This fee is charged by our bank, not us.
  • If you decide to switch payment types after a deposit has been made, there is no penalty, but requests must be submitted in writing to our office. Depending on whether you're switching from check to credit card or vice verse, your invoice will be adjusted the difference if you qualify or no longer qualify for the cash discount rate.
  • If your final payment has already been charged to your credit card, the transaction cannot be reversed. Therefore, switching payment types is not allowed at that time.
  • Tour fares are subject to change without notice.

Tour Fare Includes

  • Round trip transpacific air on Air China (land only packages excluded).
  • All intra-China air/land transportation as specified in each tour itinerary.
  • All U.S. and China taxes, airline fuel surcharges and China airport construction fees.
  • Round trip transfers between airport and hotel. Land only package have limitations (normally not included).
  • First class hotel accommodations as specified or similar class. A first class hotel in China is equivalent to a 4 or 5 star rating and all hotels used on our tours are up to U.S. standards.
  • Three meals a day as specified: IM=In-Flight Meals, B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner, SL=Special Lunch, SD=Special Dinner. Plus one complimentary beverage per meal.
  • Comprehensive tours including entrance fees and admission to evening shows as specified.
  • Professional English (other languages upon request) speaking tour conductor (local guide) for all transfers and sightseeing.
  • All tour fares are per person based on double occupancy rate. Triple occupants pay the same rate as double occupants. Single occupants pay a single room supplement fee in addition to the tour fare.
  • If you forgo any portion of your tour package, it is non-refundable or transferable.

Tour Fare Excludes

  • Chinese Consulate's $140 visa fee + China Focus' $30 processing fee.
  • Travel Insurance
  • All personal expenses such as: excess baggage charges, extra meals and beverages, laundry, telephone calls, insurance and expenses not specified in the itinerary.
  • The recommended tipping guideline of $8/day for national guides, local guides, drivers, porters, maids and $48 for staff members on the cruise ship if your tour includes the Yangtze River.

Travel Insurance

  

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your travel investment against the unexpected. You may select from one of the following options to purchase insurance:

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be submitted in writing, which may be done in one of the following forms:
  • Email: Submit an email via our website: www.chinafocustravel.com/contact. Include name(s), tour departure date, and a brief explanation for canceling.
  • Fax: 1.415.788.8665.
  • Postal Mail: China Focus, 870 Market Street, Suite 1215, San Francisco, CA 94102-2907.
Upon receipt of your written notice, the following non-refundable penalty will apply:

If your cancellation affects the price of your roommate, such as forcing them to pay a single supplement, we will deduct this amount from your refund on top of your own cancellation penalty. If you have not paid in full yet, you are responsible to send in the difference to cover your roommate's single supplement. Also, if your visa to China has already been processed, the visa processing fee is 100% non-refundable.
 

Transfer of Tour or Departure Date

The same cancellation penalty applies for each transfer if your deposit has already been received and processed by our office for the following scenarios. If you decide to:
  • Change from a full package tour to a land only package.
  • Transfer to a different departure date.
  • Transfer to a different tour.
  • Postpone/reschedule your trip.
  • Substitute a passenger. Substitutions are NOT allowed. If someone in your party cancels, the new passenger cannot simply take his/her place without incurring a cancellation penalty. Please review our cancellation policy above.

Travel Documents

  • All passengers must have a passport that is valid for at least six (6) months after your date of departure from the U.S.
  • Resident Aliens need both a passport plus a Resident Alien (Green) Card to re-enter the U.S.
  • All non-Chinese passport holders are required to have a valid Chinese Visa.

Itinerary

China Focus, Inc. endeavors to follow the itinerary precisely, however, if it becomes necessary for the means of transportation or any other services to be changed, or for the tour to be prolonged through circumstances beyond the control of the Chinese handling travel agencies, the passenger is held responsible for all additional tour costs, which must be paid immediately.
 

Responsibility & Liability

China Focus, Inc. (CFI) acts only as a tour operator and an agent of China tour companies as well as other suppliers. The suppliers providing transportation, conveyance or accommodations are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of CFI. All tickets, coupons and receipts issued by CFI and all arrangement for transportation, conveyance or for hotel accommodations are made by CFI as agent of the suppliers. By utilizing the service of the suppliers, you agree that neither CFI nor any subsidiary or affiliate of CFI shall be liable of any injury, damage, loss, accidental delay incurred by you or those traveling with you in connection with any accommodations, transportation or other services resulting directly or indirectly from any acts or defaults of the suppliers or from any occurrence or condition beyond the control of CFI including defects in vehicles or breakdown in equipment. Nor shall CFI be liable for any injury, damage, accident, delays or changes in flights, itineraries, schedules, steamers or other services, strikes, weather, quarantine, theft, sickness or other causes. All tour itineraries and fares may be affected by alterations or delays in air or surface transportation services of various countries. CFI reserves the right to cancel the tour prior to departure for any reason. In such cases, full or equitable amount will be refunded, but not to exceed the amount paid by passengers. CFI reserves the right to decline to accept, to retain or to remove any tour participant, should such person's health (mental/physical) condition or general deportment impedes the operation of the tour or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other tour participants.
